Attack On Christian Beliefs and Standards

A lot of people have a house that is just too big for their current needs. Maybe their children are now grown up and moved away from home. So their parents have decided to open a spare bedroom up for bed and breakfast guests.

Just heard today about a politician who was suggesting that a couple running a bed and breakfast in their own home would be required to have to accept guests who were Gay or Lesbian. In other words a retired couple who had strong religious biblical standards and beliefs would have to welcome people into their own home to do things which were against the standards they had lived by all their lives.

I am not attacking gay couples in this article it just happened to be sparked off by listening to the politicians statement on a local radio station. It could well have been a couple who were recovering alcoholics who wanted to keep all alcohol out of their house. It could have been a local prostitute who wanted to use their bedroom as a base for her business activities.

Do you have any principles which you would not want breaching in your own home?

For example the smell of smoking is offensive to many people that is why smoking tobacco is banned in many public buildings. The smell of cannabis being smoked would be offensive to many more people.

I would impose different standards for commercial places like larger hotels. Removing the rights of people to decide what activities they allow in their own home is going too far in my view.
